New York Comic-Con is known for many things – the cosplay, the awesome panels, the chance to meet your favorite heroes. All of these are perhaps out-shined by the unforgettable posters revealed each year.
Last year’s New York Comic-Con set the bar high with this Bat Girl and Harley Quinn poster. Bright colors and arch enemies reading on the beach together is a tough one to beat. This year, the poster artwork seems to have switched from colorful and lighthearted to a little more dark and life-like. Looking through them, I believe it is safe to say that New York Comic-Con has once again met, delivered, and defeated all standards set by previous years. Here’s a quick look at some of this year’s favorites.
If you were to Google search NYCC posters, Spike Lee’s new film Oldboy would likely dominate your search results, and with good reason. The tag line “Ask not why you were imprisoned, ask why you were set free” is enough to draw any on-looker in, but it’s the woman with the umbrella that does the trick. Before you’re able to observe the poster as a whole, your eyes are immediately drawn to this block of color. The brick cut out detail only makes her more interesting. While the rest of the poster is in black and white, the only other spot of color is the tag line. Could the woman and the reason be related? The suspense is dreadfully exciting.
Every 90′s child knows the Disney version of Hercules (after all, who could deny Pegasus?). In Hercules: The Legend Begins, a 3-D action adventure film, our favorite cartoon hero is all grown up.
